I think Amelia's rights are been violated severaly and brutaly.

The children don't have to work, also they cannot be mistreated nor slaved but Amelia thinks this is normal and all the childrenare been the same as her.

An example of this is the part where it says that Amelia was late with the food so she was hurted with a whip then, she had to bring water from a pond.

Well after all this my opinion is that Amelia is a girl of 7 years, that is living a live of slave that she doesn't have to life, and there are much more children that life this same live and is a sad truth.
